Two Parts House
Two Parts House reinterprets the familiar Australian beach shack through a lens of craft, restraint and lived experience. Designed by Sonelo Architects for a young couple seeking a coastal homecoming in Mornington, the project draws on the humility of weatherboard and timber-batten structures, elevated through finely detailed construction and thoughtful composition. The home reflects the owners’ dual narratives — one rooted in the Scandinavian clarity of Gothenburg, the other in a deep local connection to the Mornington Peninsula — resulting in a dwelling that feels both grounded and quietly refined. Composed of two obliquely oriented, skillion-roofed volumes, the house separates everyday family life from guest and entertaining spaces, allowing the building to sit gently within its leafy streetscape. Overlooking a park and shaded by mature trees, Two Parts House offers a serene coastal sanctuary designed to support family life, welcome guests, and foster a close relationship with nature.
